Saturday 4th October

On Friday 3rd October we learnt what we would be doing for the preliminary task of our Thriller Production coursework. Our exercise is to film a continuity of shots involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down on a chair opposite another character, with whom the person exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue with. I have understood that this task should demonstrate match on action, shot-reverse and the 180 degree rule. During the lesson we were shown examples of last years work and discussed the auteur theory and structuralism, for homework I have found out the meaning of this and why it is important to apply them in order to inflict the correct emotion from the audience buy the use of camera angles, mise en scene etc
Our teacher also gave us the task of analysing the opening sequence of five films, comparing the codes and conventions. I think by researching the Auteur theory and stucturalsim first, will help me with my analysis.
