In Tuesday's lesson I edited our preliminary task for the second time. Whilst editing I became very critical and manage to point a few limitations. For example the lighting we used was too bright for the thriller genre and so I adjusted the brightness and contrast for each shot. This was so that dark and unsettling mood is instilled within the viewer. Also all though nothing was wrong with the last scene I slowed the pace down dramatically to get the effect of shock and suspense within the viewer. You identify with the character and feel scared and confused when the discovery of the painting is found.
Lastly I had to remove one shot so in order to make the film as close to the time limit as possible. In Friday's editing session I aim to shorten the length of the film a bit more and make lasting changes to the titles and transitions. By next lesson my preliminary task should be finished and for the Main task informed all actors and give them their scripts. Whilst continuing to update my website simulation.

Saturday 16th January 2010
Since last lesson, I worked on my website simulation and added research about Alfred Hitchcock and The art of cinematography. I also completed our storyboards, due to a doctor's appointment I missed Friday's lesson. Prior to that I saw my teacher concerning this and she told me that the lesson had been planned for a editing session. In order to catch up i will discuss with me teacher about arranging a session after sixth form.

Due to bad weather we did not have a media studies lesson on Friday, so today I worked on my website simulation. I added more information about planning and evaluation although I cannot write about editing until We have completed editing. I have decided that in our main task that it will not be necessary for dialogue between 'Kim' and 'Alex'. I feel that 'Alex' should feature as the unknown Antagonist, this heightens the suspense and feeling of mystery within the viewer.
I Plan later on today to discuss this with Opal and draw up the storyboards again. So by next lesson I should have completed this.

Main task finalizations
Today was the first day back from the christmas holidays and Opal and I discussed with our teacher the change in the script that I had came up with over the christmas holidays. Our teacher suggested a few adjustments in camera angles and we decided to create the reflection of the character 'Kim' to be bubbly and happy and so in a sense she will be unconventional as in most thrillers characters tend to hold 'moody' and reserved personality traits. I feel that as costume goes she should be wearing either pink or purple pajamas in order to reflect her femininity and also as a way to emphasize her unconventional personality traits. When I showed my teacher the storyboards and the scene of her waking up to bath which then leads her to go out, we decided that this idea is a bit illogical and unrealistic. So we decided to make her have a dog and the lack of her being able to locate her dog once she awakens from sleep is what makes her go out and look for him.
Opal and I have also been thinking about possible actors for the characters who we have named Kim,Rachel,Amy and Alex. Once we are able to clarify the actors we would do casting exercises to make sure that they are able to deliver. Before next lesson Opal and I would have written up a dialogue for the two characters Kim and Alex and also the neighbor Amy (who only really says a couple of lines). By next lesson I also would have completed the storyboards and added more detailed annotations.
